40 hr famine

Hey everyone!

It’s Kirsten T here, just giving you a heads up about the 40hr Famine 09 with World Vision. This year the church is going to be running a group who will participate in the famine.

In Deuteronomy 15:7 it says; “If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.”

As Christians we should be striving to be selfless, loving and compassionate in all our thoughts and deeds. The famine is a great way to display love in action and physically do something to help those 900 million chronically hungry people around the globe. So if you’re interested in participating or just want to find out more, contact me or checkout the 40hr famine website: 40hr Famine website
And even if you can’t do the famine yourself, support your friends! You can make a real difference by becoming aware of the Global food crisis!

The official famine weekend is the 21-23 August but you can do it any weekend up to the 20th of September. If you’re doing it with the church, all books and payments MUST be given back to me by Sunday the 27th of September.

Thanks guys and lets get creative! Go without food, or technology, or furniture, or talking, or chocolate…

thanks kirt for posting this up

it’s great to be donating money to charities all the time, but the 40-hour no-something is a great way to really help on a personal level!

hey apart from being able to raise heaps of money, one really good thing about the famine is that it’s actually our only experience with really being hungry! Cause when we say all the time ‘I’m starrrrrrving’…it’s a bit dumb because we probably ate max 5 hours ago haha…and thousands of people are literally starving!
It’s not hard but it’s a sort of a slap to remind us how lucky we are!!
